Lemon Drop Cafe (2007-08-13)

We've walked past Lemon Drop cafe in Kichijoji (kanji) a thousand times but never thought of having afternoon tea there, basically because every time we passed it we were full from having had lunch not too long ago and because I'm not a cake eater; so KL kinda gets de-enthused over the thought that he has to eat cake by himself although I'd still be sitting with him and having tea or something.  Whao, that is a long sentence and not particularly well constructed.

Of course you already guessed the rest of the story: we finally had our first afternoon tea at LD one Sunday after we had a light lunch at home.  There were a good variety of cakes in the glass case but I saw copious amount of cream in them, so I didn't have any.  KL ordered a cherry tart which looked more like a cake than a traditional fruit tart.  For drinks, KL had his coffee (of course) and I had the Peach Garden which came in a pot, accompanied with a lil' jar of honey, a mug to hold the mesh with the tea leaves and an hourglass to tell me when the steeping is finished.

We scored the best seats in the restaurant which is the single small table by the glass wall enabling us to do some serious people watching (and critiquing, hahaha).  The tea's okay, but also no disappointment.  The objective of us supping there is not about the food or drinks, it's about quality time spent with each other.

KL took multiple shots of the hourglass and I, sitting across from him forming the background, became an unwitting subject in those photos.  I'll post them tomorrow and you shall see my blurry face!
