oazo (2010-06-27)
To the north of Tokyo Station and also bordered by Otemachi Station is a clusters of grand and gigantic buildings called oazo. The "a" and "z" in the word means one can buy anything from a to z
in this cluster of buildings that house offices, shops and
restaurants. One of the letters "o" in oazo represents Otemachi
and the other "o" denotes maru,
the
Japanese
word for circle.
oazo actually comprises of eight structures: oazo building, oo
hiroba (square), underground passage from Tokyo Station to Otemachi
Station, Marunouchi () Hotel, Nihonseimei Marunouchi Building, Marunouchi
North Exit Building, Shin (New) Marunouchi Center Building, and
Marunouchi Center Building.
Many people simply call the area Marunouchi because of the names of
some of the buildings and the name of the suburb they sit on. KL
and I spent a few good hours checking out some of those impressive
buildings and had lunch on a leisurely afternoon.
I'll be posting the pictures I took on each building on separate
posts starting with the oazo building today.
