Hay Fever (2005-03-28)
Coming into early Spring, many Tokyoites have a tough time battling hay fever. The government says this year's amount of pollen is at an all-time high, something like thirty times as much as last year's. That's why you see so many people wearing masks on the streets to help reduce breathing in pollen.
There are a plethora of hay fever remedies and related merchandise
on the market. Apart from the usual antihistamine medicine, there
are also anti-hay fever clothes, drinks, food, air purifiers and other
goodies.
I'm lucky hay fever hasn't got to me yet, but KL is suffering from itchy and watery eyes everyday. Just about the only thing we don't look forward to in Spring is hay fever.
