Mmmmmm...Lobster (2007-10-10)
Parents took us, Peter's family, Serlina and David to a restaurant called Yong Feng for our first dinner in Sydney. YF is a typical Chinese restaurant located in a quiet suburb. Undraped round tables are squeezed tightly together to fully utilize the small dining room and it was noisy from the packed crowd. My parents tell me the food's great there despite the modest surrounds and I couldn't agree more after our meal.Lobster was the highlight of the night and it was awesome! The
huge dish of stirfried chopped lobster with scallions and ginger
presented on top of noodles that soaked up all the sweetness of the
lobster meat was delicious. Even if one had money to pay for such
an extravagant dish in Tokyo, one would NOT be able to find a chef who
knows how to cook this dish. You simply cannot eat this kind of
REAL chinese food in Japan. Oh what a treat it was for us.
Thank goodness for photographs, or I wouldn't be able to remember
what other things we ate that night. But I remember loving every
dish though. My parents know which restaurants serve good food
and they are happy to take you there. KL wanted to treat everyone
seeing it was the first time in four years that we sat together for a
meal, so he snuck up to the cashier to ask for the bill because there's
no way in heck he could be "physically strong" enough to get the check
when it came to the table. But the silly restaurant doesn't take
credit cards! When my generous Dad discovered KL's stealth
operation, he wasn't very happy about that. At the end we had no
choice but let him pay because our scant amount of cash was way short
to cover the $302 dinner.
Thank you very much, Dad and Mom, for a fantastic meal.
