Old Style Salon (2004-06-12)

Last week KL and I went to my girlfriend's salon to have his regular haircut.  It is an old-fashioned salon indicated by the swirling red and blue stripes in a white cylindrical light outside the shop.  Everything inside the salon from the cash register to the towel-heating machine is reminiscent of the old times.  I took a few pictures to show you.

Sinks which disguise as part of the counter and pop out when in use are interesting apparatus there.  Customers have to bend their necks forward to have their hair washed.  I tried that once and found it a little challenging to use.  Perhaps it's my low blood pressure which usually causes dizziness when I bend over, having my head tilted forward for ten minutes nearly made me pass out!   And the water just ran into my face and eyes from all angles so I had to keep blotting at my face non-stop while trying not to mess up the makeup.  That's why I did not return for a second time, I leave that hair-washing challenge to people who don't suffer from hypotension and apply no makeup such as KL.
