Straw Brooms (2004-06-23)
Almost all Japanese workers use straw brooms like the one in the picture. Street cleaners use them to sweep leaves and garbage, firemen clean the outside of the fire station with them, builders carry them like part of their tools, and road workers use straw brooms to clean up their mess before they go home.
They seem to be the cleaning equipment of choice for workers
only. Housewives don't use straw brooms to sweep the floor or
outside the house. I don't use it either, they are too rugged for a
lady like me. Blah!
