Canovietta In Takashimaya Dept Store (2008-09-24)
While looking for lunch on the 13th floor of Takashimaya () department store in Shinjuku (), we stumbled upon Canovietta. I didn't look too carefully at the menu outside the restaurant and decided what the heck, let's go in before the lunch crowd arrived.Smartly dressed and friendly servers (and there were plenty of them)
flitted around in the elegant dining room. Feeling a bit
under-dressed in jeans and sandals and lugging a tote bag, I fidgeted
in my seat at first. But after KL told me not to be such a tight
ass
(KL,"Don't be such a tight ass.") and seeing more diners come in
wearing
jeans, I learned to relax and enjoy my lunch.
I hadn't noticed the "B Course" we chose which cost 2940 Yen (US$27)
consisted of salad, pasta or risotto of choice, entree/main, desert and
coffee/tea. In Tokyo's pricing, this is a BARGAIN! And this
bargain isn't given to people in a dingy lil' diner type restaurant, we
ate quality dishes with fine silverware on linen-lined table
overlooking a lush garden. It was a fantastic meal in a fantastic
setting.
To cap it all off, the dessert for the day was a divine caramel gelato with expresso sauce topped with candied toasted almond slices. It was soooooo good! Canovietta is definitely a returnable restaurant for us.
