National Day Fireworks (2011-11-25)

We hadn't realized our stay in Hong Kong coincided with the National Day, and no idea it was such a big deal there.

Large numbers of tourists from mainland China started pouring into the city on Sep 30 evening.  By the next day, we were surrounded by Mandarin-speaking people front, back and center in Tsim Sha Tsui.

A shop salesman said so many Chinese tourists buying name brand bags that there would be a long line getting into those shops along Canton Road during Golden Week.

There's no way KL and I would join the 320,000 spectators along the Victoria Harbour to see the 23-minute fireworks show.  Since our room didn't face the harbour, we really didn't expect to see anything from our window, maybe one tiny sparkle at most.

But boy, we saw a whole lot more!  Check out the clips I took of the fireworks.  I put the end of the show first because I think that's the most spectacular of the whole display.
