Tenya (Tempura Restaurant) (2005-03-29)
I don't know anyone who doesn't like tempura, the deep-fried vegetables or seafood in batter. Surely there are plenty of restaurants in Tokyo that serve this dish, but KL and I keep going to Tenya, a franchised chain that serves nothing but tempura. Its food is no less fresh and delicious than restaurants that serve tempura at a much higher price.Tenya's signature dish is tendon, which literally means tempura over
rice in a bowl; but plain tempura, side dishes and set meals are also
popular items on their menu. We went to one again two weekends ago,
and on a chilly spring
day, a bowl of rice and deep-fried seafood and vegetables eaten with a
dipping sauce with freshly-grated daikon is so very satisfying.
Yum!
