Kinshichou, Olinas Mall (2007-12-19)

My brother and his family left Tokyo last Friday and continued on with their trip to Hong Kong.  I spent so much time with them during their short week here that I felt like I was traveling with them.  We walked miles and miles everyday and I'm simply amazed at how strongly the kids kept pace with us.  Granted, sometimes they did throw tantrums and pull long faces, but you've gotta give them credit, especially Tiffany who did not get the luxury of being held by her mom when tired, for keeping up with the adults although a bit of coercion and chiding was needed at times.

Apart from Puroland, I took them to as many places as we could fit in their tight schedule.  I am not a fan of Hello Kitty, so they were on their own to find this amusement park following the instruction I gave them.

One of the places we did go together was Kinshichou, a suburb that is 20-minute from Shinjuku (kanji).  It has a fairly new mall called Olinas that I had wanted to visit but never made it.  The mall is your typical western style structure that houses shops and restaurants.

The many shops around the station and the mid-sized mall could be a good place to spend half a day or a full day of window shopping depending on your pace.

Access to Olinas:  Take Chuo Line from Shinjuku to Ochanomizu.  Transfer to Soubu Line to Kinshichou.  Olinas lies perpendicularly from the North exit, about a 10-min walk from the station.
