Mushrooms (2005-03-08)

I am not vegetarian and do like the occasional taste of white meat.  But I would choose a big bowl of crunchy stir-fried veggies over chicken any day.  I particularly like mushrooms, all kinds of them, fresh and dried.  Japan has many different types of mushrooms on the market which is just fabulous.  I took some pictures of the more common ones I usually buy from our local supermarket.  There are perhaps twenty other varieties out there.  Rare and expensive ones are only sold in high-end department stores' food sections.  I am quite happy sticking to the cheaper kinds which are tasty enough to make great dishes.
