We need to eat more bread!  There are some very skillful bakers in Tokyo who make delicious bread and we just haven't been eating nearly enough varieties to fully appreciate their talent (and satisfy our love for carb).

I bought four types of bread at Andersen (good bakery with branches in Shinjuku (kanji) and Ueno (kanji) etc) the other day.  The Dutch bread which is a dome-shaped white bread with a scattering of "flakes" made of rice on the crust is the winner of the batch.  The crust is thin and crispy, and the inside is super soft, very delicious.

The olive bread is chewy and studded with green olives.  It'll be great for making sandwiches.  I also liked the cinnamon and raisin loaf.  The sour dough (first time I bought it) has a thick chewy crust and is the least yummy of the four.

On a cold evening, a hot bowl of soup and good bread is all we need for dinner.
