Secret (Since my friend and I have seen cosmos field before, we skipped it to hurry to buy produce)
Our first restroom stop took us to a rest area in Dangozaka which was chock full of people, especially students (pictured is the food court area)
Around 11 am we stopped at this shop with a small bakery nextdoor in the middle of nowhere with NOTHING around except an unpaved parking lot where our bus parked
There's cold mountain water in front for us and the fishies
Paper cups are provided
The goldfish like the clean water
Everyone got to try their apple pie which I didn't like cause it had that puff pastry/danish shell. I only like the flaky crust in traditional American pies
The shop sells stuff usually found in farmers markets such as handmade jelly (with real fruits!)
And Yamanashi-ken's kyohou (Japanese grapes) wine
And also housemade jam
The bakery nextdoor uses their own yeast starter to make all their bread
There isn't a whole lot of variety of bread to choose from
Shelves are scarcely filled
Some are even left empty
I bought this large rustic rye bread for only 400Yen! (US$3.3) which turned out to be soft, full of a whole host of grains and had a toasty flavor, so YUM!
Rice paddies everywhere
Some rice paddies extend all the way to the road like this one behind the road sign
I took this picture from inside our moving bus
