Mystery Tour Part Two (2007-08-21)
Corn field is also abundant in Yamanashi-ken
Thus corn's a popular item for sale by farmers
This is where we had lunch
Large and typical dining hall
My lunch set
What's cooking in there?
Ahhh, three pieces of chicken in herb sauce and some veggies
Soba with wild mountain veggies. A staff constantly walked around with a tray of bowls of soba urging people to eat more
Not very appetizing stuff
The packet held dessert which was blueberry jelly
The black thing on the left is a whole garlic wrapped in a purple shiso leaf. The marinating/fermenting process rendered the garlic to taste nothing like a garlic anymore, but it tasted like a completely different element which I have no idea how to describe. Anyway I spat it out, yep, it's that bad
This is famous local delicacy--Yamanashi herbs. The cooking process makes them look like cattle poop!
Others ate it with rice, I spat mine out. Right, another dud
Blueberries are widely grown in Yamanashi, thus the line of blueberry products for sale in the shop inside the lunch place
Pretty color
Peaches are also famous produce there
This box of large peaches outside the lunch hall was selling for 2500Yen only, a third off Tokyo price. But how do you carry it home?
