Mystery Tour Part Three (2007-08-22)
After lunch we went to Nobeya train station which sits at the highest altitude in Japan
It says so on the sign
Inside the station
Our tour guide directed us to go past the ticket gate
We had to cross the track to get to the platform on the opposite side
Board crossing
You can sit inside this hut thing on the platform to wait for the train
They want to remind you one more time that you ARE at the highest train station in Japan
Our next stop's Kiyosato
Our train arrived
Just your usual train interior really
Cost of the ride is indicated above the driver's seat
Typical ticket machine behind the driver which takes bills, coins, cards and makes changes
We arrived at Kiyosato
A horsey wood sculpture thing inside Kiyosato station
People inside the station
Street scene near the station
Next stop's the Yamamoto Kansuke Shrine
Spotted these flowers outside the shrine
Your typical shrine structure
People in our tour cramped around the shrine staff trying to listen to what she had to say about the history of Yamamoto Kansuke. I of course missed most of it too busy taking pictures for my readers
Stuff laid there in the open for sale totally unguarded, you could've very easily lifted a thing or two and noone will ever know
More stuff for thieves. But this is rural Japan, I guess nobody (tourists included) steal things
Bamboo in the woodland behind the shrine
A big ol' cedar
Old-fashioned well
This dragonfly has a face
Strange flowers
A very Japanese style house (complete with Japanese style garden) near the shrine
There're tomatoes growing all over the ground behind our bus on the parking lot beside the shrine. My friend ate a red one which she said was very sweet
