Union Square Cafe (2008-07-05)
Union Square Cafe is on the right side of this street (the one with the red awning)
Restaurant front
A real bush of blueberry in a vase behind our table
Dining room
My USC Cooler $10.5
Marco's Tanqueray $11
KL had Arnold Palmer (special iced tea) $4.25
Bread, whipped butter, olives (very salty)
My appetizer: Snap Pea Salad "Tagliatini" with Pancetta, Mint, Pecorino Romano and Extra Virgin Olive Oil $13 It's a bit too tangy for my taste and hardly any pancetta or mint flavor, the snap peas were pleasingly crunchy though
Entree for the men: Crispy Soft Shell Crab with Fregula Asparagus Salad, Wild Arugula and Lemon Citronette $33
Crispy Duck Confit with Roasted Potatoes, Glazed Cippolini, Bitter Greens and Rhubbarb Vinaigrette $28
Complimentary Cookies and Biscotti from the chef
Ethiopia Biloya Special (served in a French press pot) $8 "Grown on a small village plot in Ethiopia, this heirloom Arabica coffee produces a flavor profile that is deep, with wine and berry-like fruit flavors." KL said he could taste the berry flavor in the coffee but not the wine, I tasted neither
Second pot of Earl Grey tea for Marco $3.5, the tea bag was left in place deliberately
