Okinawa Washita Shop (2013-07-01)
Shop front
Okinawa Shisa (cross between a lion and a dog) by the entrance, the right one eats the classic Okinawa stirfry dish of bitter melon, Spam, tofu and egg
Cartoon characters want your business
Nextdoor to the shop is another specialty store selling foodstuff from Kochi Prefecture, outside is this statue of famous Japanese revolutionary
Sakamoto Ryoma
We bought these, everything from Okinawa, even the tofu
Fresh baby corn is so cute
Of course you eat the whole thing
Hechima is only grown in Okinawa
It's very spongy, shrink like hell when cooked and has a grassy flavor, not as good as I thought
I stirfried the Okinawa soba instead of eating it in soup. The noodles were a little chewy, not bad but nothing to rave about
