Hong Kong Food Trumps Japan Food (2007-02-10)
Some snacks we picked up in various shops and brought back to the hotel: lamington, a chocolate chip chewy thing (not too good), Chinese pastry with lotus seed paste and salted yolk from Hang Heung (very good), green tea swiss roll (very soft), and another same kind of Chinese pastry from Kee Wah (also very good). Altogether HK$27/US$3.4
Closeup of the goodies
First meal and breakfast in Hong Kong: rice noodles with beef. The beef was totally not what was expected, it should've been chunky cubes instead of this pressed meaty slab. I didn't taste it but KL said it's okay HK$23/US$3
My rice noodles with wontons and fishballs, very good HK$13/US$1.6
Chili pork jerky from Bee Cheng Hiang, the chain store that sells all sorts of delicious Taiwanese jerky and dried meat. They are happy to give you samples for tasting, so nice
Kidney Mangoes from a supermarket
The seed's thin as paper! The meat's a bit tart though
