Protection Salt (2004-06-21)
Occasionally I see a handful of salt placed on either side of a store's entrance. Puzzled, I asked my friend what that meant. She tells me it is to ward off evil. Some shop owners believe the salt safeguards their shops from evil spirits. Also if business is a little slow, placing the salt might bring in more customers. Have they tried a rock-bottom sale? I suspect that will have a much quicker result than putting condiment at the door.
As for the evil part, that is just ludicrous. This is the 21st century, I am civilized enough to know that there are no evil spirits and demons. There are only vampires and I repel them with Protection Pepper.
