Singapore Day 3-- Wisma Atria, Sergeant Chicken Rice (2008-12-02)

KL is not a shopping person, it's not easy to convince him to get clothing for himself.  But if you saw the way he shopped in Singapore, you'd think differently.  On this trip, he bought himself jeans, pants, shoes, shorts, and socks which is unusual.  Well, the prices in Singapore are very cheap compared to Tokyo, so why not?

We were very tired from all those mall hopping just along Orchard Road, so we decided to find dinner close by.  We wanted chicken rice and the only one I could think of that's not in a hawker centre is Sergeant in the Food Republic inside Wisma Atria.

A set meal for two cost S$12 which is twice as expensive as hawker food fare.  But then again, you also pay for comfort and air-conditioning which is so important in hot and humid Singapore.  At the time we ate their chicken rice, it was tasty.  But after trying other well-known shops later on, we came to realize Sergeant's chicken rice was not that good.  Their rice wasn't fragrant enough and the chicken had the least "chickeny" taste.

After dinner, I got a pack of dragon beard candy from a very nice but talkative old lady who "pulled" the candy into threads from a hard lump of sugar right in front of me in just a few minutes.  KL also got a cheesecake at a fancy cake shop nearby for dessert in the hotel.
