Our Day Trip To Kyoto, Kyoto Station (2009-04-02)
We didn't join Serlina and David on their shopping spree this day but opted for a day trip to Kyoto.KL noticed a discount ticket shop yesterday on the same level of
Hageten and we all got JR tickets to Kyoto at almost 40% off. (540Yen
from the station=>350Yen at the shop) With a belly full of
chocolate cake breakfast, we took the subway to Umeda Station which is
connected to Osaka Station and headed straight to the platform for
Kyoto. We took the express train (stops at nine stations) instead
of the new express one (stops at only two stations in between) and the ride took about 40 minutes (instead of 29 min).
Kyoto Station is very large and remains the same as I remembered it
12,13 years ago. Back then the intricate steel structure and
sleek design was state-of-the-art, nowadays it's still
impressive. Numerous shopping 'malls' throughout the station and
a large Isetan department store should make shoppers very happy and
busy, but we just wanted food and then leave for our destination.
