Mung Bean Cakes (2010-04-20)

I had a bit of mung beans leftover from making zongzi, so I thought I'd make some mung bean cakes for the first time.  I didn't follow any recipes and just toss together ingredients and seasonings as I went.  The process is relatively simple: soak beans, whiz them to a pulp, add seasonings, an egg, (water or flour to adjust the texture) and favorite fillings such as veggies and bacon, and panfry thye batter till crispy.

Although the cakes turned out really crispy (outside) and fluffy (inside), they had a very weird (i.e. unpleasant) taste to me.  KL didn't think so at all but I ended up eating none of it.
