Get A Stamp For Keepsake (2004-10-24)
I have been to quite a few cities in Japan and many of their train stations have stands with ink pad and a stamp on which the name of the city is engraved. They are for visitors who want to stamp the name of the city on a piece of paper as a memento. It is free of charge. Making your own stamp sheet for keepsake is a quaint little practice in Japan. In metropolitan Tokyo, there are two such stamp stations outside the
ticket gates in JR Ueno () Station. I'm sure there are more but I have not
seen them. Neither have I seen many people using them.
