A Mulberry Present (2005-06-19)
KL and I are not the only ones enjoying the mulberries from the tree nextdoor. When I returned home from the supermarket one day, I saw a sparrow pick up a berry on the ground and ate it while perching on the wall of the house across ours.
That same afternnoon when I went to the upstairs balcony, I found a
half-eaten mulberry on the floor next to the bird feeder! It must
be a gift from a grateful bird thanking us of all the bird feed they've
been getting!
I don't know the nutritional value of mulberries, but if they are good enough for sparrows, they are good enough for me.
