Mary's Glace Chestnuts (2005-10-17)
Now being chestnut season and all, almost every cake shop and confectionery store has some kind of sweets made of chestnuts on their shelves. KL saw some glace chestnuts on Mary's website that looked pretty good.
One night on his way home, he picked up a small box. The box
was pre-wrapped in a giftable fashion with glossy paper and a pretty
yellow ribbon. Awwww, it's sweet! (A prelude to what's to
come).
There were six individually sealed chestnuts in the box. I
took one out, removed the wrapping and took a small bite. Wow!
IT'S VERY VERY SWEET! There's no chestnut flavor whatsoever, just
a strong overwhelming sugary sweetness that hit every taste bud in the
mouth. The chestnut was so sweet that it put a grimace on my
face, couldn't help it.
Mary's can do chocolates, but glace chestnuts? They can forget
about it.
