Catching Up With The Rest Of The World (2008-01-20)
Okay, so we don't have many hi-tech things in our house, we don't even have a DVD player or a hi-fi system. And we certainly never ever owned one single video game player, that is until we bought the Wii right after the new year! Phew, finally we sort of look like we are living in the 21st century!I've played the Wii game at my brother's house in Sydney, so it's
not totally new to me. I've played other video games before too,
but none appealed to me the way
the tennis game on Wii did, it's so addictive.
The biggest reason I wanted to get Wii, seriously, is trying to lose
weight! If there ever was any hesitation for buying the Wii, we
hesitated no more when Wii Fit went on the market here last
month. The "game" just looks soooooo much fun and so
"interactive" in the TV commercial.
We went out thinking of buying the console,
Wii Sports (sold seperately in Japan) and Wii Fit, but came home
without the last one because it had totally sold out. Man, that
is a hot item right now...
Addendum 1: KL went out to get Wii Fit a few days after our first
attempt and you know what? It's even more sold out! He
couldn't find it in any store except those online sold by scalpers at
50% over the retail price. Why, those vultures! KL said
we'd probably not get one till February.
Addendum 2: SHOCKING!! On the eighth day after we brought Wii
home, it went bust!!! The screen went blank. There was no
sound and no image, nothing. Upon googling, we found out it's "not
unusual" for such problem to happen. Am I going to be hit with
hate mail from Nintendo fans when I say that Nintendo is CRAP?
What kind of brand new computers break down in just a week?! And
it is not unusual that it did?!!!!
Addendum 3: KL returned the thing to the store for an exchange, and
you know what? There's a stack of Wii Fit behind the bank of
cashier registers which was flying off the shelf! KL saw two
people leaving the store with it while two others were getting it
beside him. And of course he waited no time to grab his. In
a matter of minutes, five were sold. So perhaps the breaking
down of the Wii is a good thing afterall, it enables us to play Wii Fit
a lot sooner!
