When Does A Cat's Voice Become Hoarse? (2008-04-26)
The answer is when it becomes content! When most cats feel happy and content, they purr, some might even
drool like my sister's cat. But Daifoo is different, he rarely
purrs, he just goes very
hoarsy! So much so that he might not even be able to utter any
sound at all. Also, his face changes. His snout starts to
elongate, his jowl seems to lengthen
and he gradually resembles a RAT!
I've shot a clip of him when he was taking a nap on the couch while
I
was giving him his favorite massage--pressing on his back in quick
short successions. This always ensures a very content
Daifoo.
But the state of content doesn't last because in order to make him
sound out his very funny hoarse voice, I also need to lightly squeeze
his tail which he absolutely HATES. Once he loses his
contentment, his voice goes back to normal. You'll hear his voice
gradually increasing in pitch toward the end of the clip. And
when he cries
for food, his voice is as shrilly as a soprano singer!
