Trains To Narita Airport (2004-06-22)

The cheapest way to get from Tokyo to Narita Airport or vice versa is via Keisei Line train.  Its limited express trains which start at Ueno (kanji) will take you to Narita Airport's Terminal Two building in an hour and a half, a couple of minutes more to its final stop at Terminal One building.  A one-way ticket will set you back 1000 yen (US$9.5).

A single ticket for the Narita Express train which has reserved plush seats, an area to store your luggage, and drinks and food service will cost over three times as much at around 3200 yen.  It goes from Shinjuku (kanji) to Narita Airport in about an hour and fifteen minutes.

The Skyliner is the fastest of all going to the Airport from Ueno in just under an hour and costs around 2000 yen for a one-way trip.

We used to ride on the Narita Express before we discovered other alternative ways to the airport.  Now we always take the Keisei train.  We don't mind taking a longer ride to save over 4000 yen on tickets.  With that money saved, we could spend it on food in the country we are leaving for in Narita.

Note:  The orange Airport Limousine Bus which costs 3000 yen per single ticket goes from Narita Airport to Shinjuku and stops at different hotels depending on which number bus you take.  But since it travels on open roads, there is no telling how long it takes to get to your destination.  Peak hour traffic can mean two and a half hours for the trip.  Is it worth taking?  You decide.
