Day 4--Breakfast in room, Clinton St. Baking Company, il laboratorio, Blue Man Group, Union Square Cafe (2008-07-03)
The supermarket near our hotel has tons and tons of cut fruit, cooked food, roast meat, picnic boxes and prepared food stacked on endless shelves in the cold storage. Having no fridge in the room, just about the only time we could eat their fruits was early in the morning before we left for the day. And so we did. We also got a freshly baked baguette from their bakery and had ourselves a very yummy breakfast.Lunch at Clinton St. Baking Company turned out to be frustrating and
a waste of time but it did fill us up. Afterwards, we took a walk
to il laboratorio del gelato to
sample their well-known icecream and sorbet. It was indeed very
good.
Then it was time to take the subway to Astor Place where we would
see Blue Man Group, a treat from
marco who refused to take our money for the tickets. The two-hour show
was at times hilarious, at times entertaining, at times juvenile, and
at times downright silly. However I was disappointed that
the ponchos-donning audience in the front rows did NOT get drenched
with paint
and dyes. Considering the amount of edible dyes that was used in
the show, they should at least splash some over the audience!
When we got out of the theater, there was still plenty of time before our reservation at Union Square Cafe, so we made a leisurely stop at Barnes & Noble at Union Square before walking over to have our wonderful dinner.
