Chinese Broccoli (2008-07-17)
It's finally warm enough to plant the Chinese broccoli seeds Serlina brought me during her visit. It might be the soil, or the weather, or my gardening technique (the lack of it), these broccoli look nothing like the thick lush ones I saw in Hong Kong. Mine are skinny, woody and flavorless. With the hundreds of aphids and tens of fat green caterpillars attacking the crop everyday, I decided to harvest them before the bugs ate it all. Fortunately I still got a meal out of the two pots.
