Chooks And Bunnies In Hospital (2005-01-22)
I discovered a hospital not far from where we live not long ago. It is a Veterans Hospital and its patients are primarily elderly people. What caught my eye the first day I rode past it were two big chicken wire sheds like those in a farm standing near the garden inside the hopital. Animals? I had to go check them out myself. When I reached the sheds, big fat chooks and bunnies were looking right at me. Who would have thought you could find chickens and rabbits in a hospital?
A local Japanese later told me that those animals are for patients to look at, which might have some therapeutic benefit for them (the patients) and even help in their recovery. That is a good idea. Animals can help humans in more ways than we realize.
