Singapore Day 5-- Suntec City Mall, Dinner At Food Court (2008-12-09)
A mall is a mall no matter what you name it. Suntec City Mall looks like all the other malls we went to, but being new to the place, there're always interesting things to look at. It is also at this mall that we discovered the free open-top bus tour for tourists which we got on the next day.We hadn't planned on eating yet again chicken rice for dinner, but
Boon Tong Kee is so famous among locals and also happens to be in the
food court in Suntec Mall, we just had to try. And I'm glad we
did because it is the best of all the chicken rice we had in this trip!
The rice rated the same as Tian Tian's but Boon Tong Kee's chicken
has the best chickeny flavor of them all. If I could only choose
to eat from one chicken rice restaurant in Singapore, I would choose
Boon Tong Kee in a heartbeat. We also had a couple of local
dishes--duck rice and char kway teow--which was so-so.
To go back to the hotel, we could walk the 15-minute walk to City
Hall Station through the underpass which is lined with shops, so it
isn't a boring walk. But there's also a free shuttle right past
the information desk outside Carrefour that transports people to the
station. We were too tired to walk, so we took the shuttle
bus. After we got off, we took another bus instead of the train
back to Orchard Road.
Dessert tonight would be Thailand mangoes and we also picked up breakfast food for the next day from Breadtalk, a ubiquitous bakery.
