Hitachi Oven Has Its Flaws (2009-03-12)
I've sufficiently tested out my new Hitachi oven over the past weeks, and yes, I'm still as impressed as I was the first few days I used it. The pre-programs are its greatest features, cooking a variety of dishes with just one or two buttons. And it doesn't matter if the amount of meat or vegetables I use varies from the set program; since the oven cooks it by weight and temperature, never have I had food come out of the oven undercooked. But, I also discovered shortcomings of the oven despite its stellar
qualities which include:
- Only maintains 250C for 10 minutes, then it automatically reverts to 210C or lower.
- Takes 15-20 minutes to reheat to the desired temperature (as opposed to 7 min on my old Toshiba).
- The bottom plate could be a hassle to slide in and out of the oven, especially when there's a rack loaded with food on it.
