We Found A Kitten! (2009-08-07)
First of all, this is a happy post! We found a new kitten!!
We started corresponding with this foster parent, Takeda-san, after
we saw its pictures on an adoption site. Takeda-san then invited
us to her house, picked us up in her car from her train station, and we
met HIM!
The day was hot, the air-con wasn't on and with 11 kittens, 2 adult
cats, several cages and 3 litterboxes among other things cramped into a
tiny room no bigger than 50 square feet, it stank. Many of the
kittens had some sort of eye problem, I reckon it's from over-crowded
living condition. Takeda-san is a very kind middle-aged lady, so
kind that her friends and people in her neighborhood send the stray
kittens they find to her.
The kitten we had in mind doesn't look like Daifoo (although I had
wanted our next cat to resemble him), but he does have ginger fur,
white paws and a long tail. He's a timid little thing cowering
behind some cages in the corner of the room when we saw him. He
wasn't like some others who immediately came to us and wanted to
play. He's also older than the others (about 3.5 months old)
which means he's in more urgent need of a home in order to avoid that evil needle.
This kitten was amongst a litter from a stray cat and ended up in
the hands of Takeda-san. Like many other kittens there, he
couldn't fully open one of his eyes which was constantly tearing up.
Seeing how helpless he was cramped in a smelly little room, not in the
perfect healthy state, and likely to miss out on play due to his docile
disposition, we decided to rescue him a "second time"!
Details of his transfer to our home will be posted later.
