Nashi Pears (2004-09-03)
Pardon me for sounding like a broken record, but local grown fruit in Japan is so very good. Nashi pears are in abundance now, they've been in supermarkets since early August. We've had good nashi pears in Sydney but not comparable to those sold here. Japanese nashi pears are so incredibly SWEET, crunchy and refreshing that no proper words can describe them. We eat a lot of nashi (the word means pear in Japanese) while they are in season, it is a crime not to.
