Chunky Chili Oil (2011-01-15)
Chunky chili oil has been all the rage in Tokyo. I started eating it last year and it took us awhile to test out three different names since we don't eat spicy food a lot.
If you live in Japan, getting it online is much easier (and often
cheaper) than buying it in supermarkets. I haven't been able to get my
hands on the hottest brand--Momoya--as it continues to be sold
out. But of the three kinds we did try, the one that came in a bag
and cost the least is our favorite. It's not too spicy, not at
all garlicky and has that bits of chewy stuff in it that's very
addictive.
