Loyal Dining (2012-03-08)
Day 2, 2/19Loyal Dining reminds me of Tai Ping Koon.
Here's what they have in common: history, elderly servers in black
and white uniforms, similar decor and similar menu.
This is a restaurant to relive that old Hong Kong diner feel eating
Cantonese-influenced western dishes. However we ordered their dim
sum breakfast which was just so-so. Since it was our first
morning in Hong Kong, the rush to eat dim sum clouded our better
judgement of NOT eating dim sum in non-dim sum restaurants.
Luckily the steamed rice rolls were excellent and made up for the
mediocre dumplings. The fried rice was also nice with that
delicious hot wok smoky taste although the rice itself was a bit hard.
I would definitely return to try their pigeons or baked pork chop
rice if given the chance.
