Our Other Cat In Sydney (2005-04-10)
Last Christmas my younger sister who is taking care of our other cat, Mauwi, in Sydney sent us a disk with a compilation of pictures of her. KL says I should dedicate a page on this journal to Mauwi. I agree because she is part of our family too, it's just that we couldn't take her here to live with us and I have always felt guilty about that. While Daifoo is friendly, fearless and domineering; Mauwi is almost
the opposite. She is shy, timid and fearful. Whenever a
visitor came to our house, the first thing Mauwi did was hide under our
bed till the person was gone while Daifoo would boldly hang around the
visitor and sniff his/her bag (probably searching for food).
Daifoo is also very vocal and likes to talk. He is open to his
feeling and not afraid to let you know whenever he is hungry or wants
to go out to play. Mauwi on the other hand acts like she is
dumb. You can pull her tail, hold her upside down or annoy her
and she will not utter a single meow.
Daifoo and Mauwi have never gotton along since they were
kittens. They always kept a distance from each other and they
never licked each other like my sister's two cats do. We are just
amazed at how our cats can have such different personalities.
Although we love them both, I think KL likes to mess with Daifoo more
because it is very entertaining to hear him "protest" and talk. I
doubt Daifoo misses his mate, but we sure do.
