If you don't want to lose your tennis ball, either play the game in an enclosed area or do what this mother and daughter did: tie the ball on a piece of string and weigh the string down with a heavy object on the ground. This way the ball won't bounch off on to the road and no one needs to go far to retrieve the ball.
But no one will improve their game either.
