Negishi Restaurant (2006-03-28)

The very first dinner KL and I had with friends at a restaurant since we came to Tokyo in 1999 was at Negishi in Shinjuku (kanji) whose specialty is chargrilled beef tongue, steamed rice with wheat and slimy grated Japanese yam.

We've been going to the one in Kichijoji (kanji) lately because we (particularly me) like chargrilled food.  I love just about everything on their menu (except the slimy yam), especially the grilled spicy pork, beef tongue and their wheat rice combination.  Their set meal is pretty reasonable too.
