We stumbled upon a little ice cream shop on the Hilton premise after dinner. They serve several kinds of Kona coffee ice cream variations which interested us enough to go inside the shop to check it out.
We ordered two scoops in a cup to share. I picked the Kona
Lava Java which is Kona coffee ice cream with coffee sorbet. KL
chose Kauai Pie which is Kona coffee ice cream with chocolate fudge,
coconut flakes, macadamia nuts and vanilla cake crunch.
My choice was simply irresistibly delicious. It was the first
time I had eaten ice cream that was NOT sweet but bitter, and the coffee sorbet was
chewy like toffee. The combination of creamy bitter coffee ice
cream and sweet chewy toffee was fantastic. The Kauai Pie was
alright and it was sweet.
We loved the Lava Java so much that we returned in a day and had two
scoops of it. If I could eat tons of ice cream without getting fat,
I would stuff myself stupid with barrels of Kona Lava Java!
