Singapore Day 5-- Royal China At Raffles Hotel, Merlion (2008-12-08)

We took a bus from this stop near the Gardens gates to Raffles Hotel (Number 75 or Number 106 will get you there)

After we got off the bus, we saw this

Royal China Restaurant

Tables in the middle row

Table setting, Chinese tea at S$2 pp

Trio of rice rolls (prawns, scallops, BBQ pork), very slippery smooth and soft S$4.8

Prawn dumplings S$4.8

Scallop dumplings S$4.8

Pork dumplings S$4.8

BBQ pork buns S$3.6 (Didn't like them, tasted funny)

Innards

Chef rice rolls S$4 (a little chewy, not silky smooth enough)

Sago Plum mango Pudding S$5

Fried Red Bean Paste Pancake S$10 (smooth paste, very crispy "shell" but the dough's too thick)

Side wall

Courtyard in Raffles Hotel

Old-fashioned lift

The Theatre of Art is supposed to resemble a durian, but the shape looks more like a jackfruit to me

Walking along the Esplanade toward the Merlion, the sky looking very dark

Sure enough, it began to pour when we were almost there

We took shelter under the bridge

Rain stopped after 35 minutes and we came from under the bridge to take this obligatory shot

I like this mini version

Might as well take this picture too
