Goodbye Ishida San Part 2 (2009-04-30)

A small table was set up for Ishida-san

Simple food

A dish of cold sashimi was brought out after we started

Followed by steamed savory egg

and Japanese broth

The shrine at home. The incense is supposed to be burning non-stop for 49 days

Ishida-san loved their pet turtle (I think it's 9 years old)

They also have some small fishies in the balcony

We found a dead fish and my friend fed it to the turtle but it didn't eat it

My friend, being the spouse of the deceased, wore this on her suit

Special envelope is used when giving money to the deceased's family. The way to address it and the way to hand it to the receiver are strictly observed

The thank you note from the host. A packet of salt is included for us to throw over the shoulders before we enter our own home (Hey, Rachel Ray often does that!)

Gifts from the host

What's inside the box?

Great gifts!

There's nori that KL likes, pickled plums that I've been wanting to buy, and genmai tea that we both like
