Hiking Mount Tsukuba Part 1 (2012-12-01)
Mt. Tsukuba hiking in a nutshell
The trip begins with a train ride of course. This is the ticket gates of Tuskuba Express Line at Akihabara Station
At Tsukuba Station, we go to A3 Exit
Up on street level we face a bank of bus stops
The last one on the right is Stop 1, the one we want. Bus leaves every 30 minutes
The trail we want begins at Tsukubasan Jinja Iriguchi (Mount Tsukuba Shrine Entrance), the second last stop of the route
Get on the bus through the mid-door, get a ticket from this machine, hand it to the driver on exit and pay (700Yen/US$8.7)
Mostly hikers on the bus
After 45 minutes, we got off the bus near this phone booth
There's a tourist information center at the stop
Checking out the inside
Ink pad and stamp
Display of common rocks found in the mountain
Checking out the view across the information center
OK, let's start the hike
by first passing under this Torii gate and go up the road
Passed this self-serve produce stand
Nobody steals money from the unmanned money box (Yay for honest people in this country!)
Also walked past some shops
Friend bought a hat
selling mostly souvenirs
Shop owners are almost all senior people
