Day One New York City (2005-11-20)
KL filling up the tank of our rental car before turning it in
The tiniest plane I've ever flown in--from Birmingham to Detroit
The cockpit of the plane
The aisle is narrow and overhead bins are small. Larger carry-on bags have to be stowed separately in the back of the plane. Our lone flight attendant is a very funny guy. His first announcement on the plane was, "Thank you for flying Northwest today to Omaha". This was followed by muffled gasps from some passengers and then the words "Just kidding!"
The plane hovered for a long time above Detroit at low altitude and gave us a spectacular view of interminable Fall foilage, houses, roads, cars and buildings that looked like toys. It's like taking a special effect ride in an amusement park. I almost didn't want us to land and end the view
