Outback Grill's Steak (2006-01-18)
Last time we went to Outback Grill, KL and I finally got hold of ourselves and restrained from ordering BBQ ribs which we've been having every single time. So we ordered steaks.Shortly after we ordered our drinks, the eagerly-awaited honey bread
came. I was cutting myself a piece and shoving it in my mouth
before KL finished placing the entree order! As the waitress
offered us more bread throughout the meal, we kept saying
"Yes please!" We ended up having three loaves of that darn thing!!
After downing enough bread to half fill us, the salad which came
with the steak arrived. To my surprise (actually SHOCK is the
right word), it was a huge bowl. In all the other restaurants
that I've been to, the salad in a set meal is tiny requiring only four
or five bites to take care of it. This one at Outback Grill was
almost a meal by itself! On top of the lettuce, my house garden
salad was smothered with shredded carrots. Did they have a glut
of carrots in their stock 'cause my dinner also came with many
half-cooked carrot slices?
When my steak came, I was close to full! The steak was cooked
perfectly, no complaints there. We ordered it medium-well, and we
got exactly that. The piece of steak was dark pink inside and the
juice just oozed out with each cut. Nevertheless it was still
disappointingly tough, perhaps a fillet mignon would've been more
tender than our sirloin.
Next time no more steak dinner for me. I'll either go back to BBQ ribs or try their burgers, and oh yea, more honey bread.
