I Found The Smallest Parmigiano Reggiano (2007-06-01)
Cheese is not an integral part in the Japanese diet, thus the choice of cheese is very limited in supermarkets. To get even some basic kinds, one needs to go to a cheese specialty shop which is fortunately not hard to find in big department stores' food section.I needed Parmesan one day and was surprised to see it at our local
grocery store (They have the Kraft ones in a green bottle but those are
too crappy for human consumption). The tiny box of
Parmigiano Reggiano contains two individually-sealed chunks which are
the size of a rubber eraser. Each cube weighs only 20 gram which
is about two thirds of an ounce. I've never seen anything so
small! Oh well, you make do with what you can get in a pinch.
