Dalloyau (2008-01-28)
Another well-known patisserie imported from France, Dalloyau is reputed, among other things, to have very good macarons, otherwise known as the overhyped, overrated cookies, at least in my opinion. (Can this sentence contain any more comas?)KL went to Ogikubo (two stations from ours) to get coffee. I
alerted him of the Dalloyau shop inside Lumine right at the station, so
he went there to check it out. He brought back some bread and a
chocolate macaron that was handed out as sample. Yay, free food!
The Epi (bacon in a stylized baguette) was tough and hard, and the
macaron was nothing more than a sandwich cookie that you can finish in
two bites. The cookie part lacked the crisp shell and the filling
had the texture of a chewy brownie. I'm glad he didn't have to
pay two bucks for it. As for the orange bread, I didn't taste
that.
Overpriced and underperformed, I fail to see the beauty of macarons that have received so much praise from foodies.
