For those who are following fashion trend in Tokyo, jelly bags are becoming popular among young women. These bags are made of an opague plastic type material and feel quite soft to touch. The somewhat transparent bags are especially easy to spot in Shibuya (
), a fashionable shopping district in Tokyo. They come
in a variety of pastel colors and sizes. I've also seen polka
dots ones although they are not as popular.I would never use one because I don't like bags that look like they
are made out of plastic. And also being quite the insecure
person, I can't bear to carry a bag knowing its contents are
visible to the whole world.
Like fashion fad in the past, I don't expect to see jelly bags' popularity last. When people are no longer interested in them, maybe manufacturers can recycle them to make gum boots or something.
