Union Square Cafe (2008-07-05)
All the frustration and bitterness suffered at lunch was more than replaced by the cheery staff and wonderful treatment at dinner. It wasn't easy to make bookings at
Union Square Cafe, Marco had to call in a week before
only to get a table for 9 pm. We arrived early but we didn't have
to wait more than a minute for our table in the cosy dining room just
inside the restaurant.
Our server was most friendly and accommodating, and was very patient
taking our order.
And the food, wow, so delicious! I had no idea the portion was
this huge, a soft shell crab entree netted the guys THREE crabs each
and my duck confit entree consisted of half a duck!! I could
barely
finish the melt-in-the-mouth tender meat without stuffing myself to
death.
When Marco ordered Earl Grey tea after dinner, he had to send it
back because he thought they had given him the wrong tea. I think
Marco had a momentarily lapse in his sense of taste but our server
wasn't short or anything like it, he happily took it back and returned
with a fresh pot with the tea bag dangling and patiently explained to
us that maybe letting it steep a bit longer may help release the
flavor.
Awesome food, commendable service, excellent ambience, what more can you ask for a restaurant?
